Before I get into my February Favorites I want to share a little mommy musings with you all. I love the quote, “The days are long, but the years are short”. This seems to resonate with me so much right now, especially when thinking about our little girl. It’s hard to believe she’s a walking, talking almost 16 month old, when it seems like just yesterday she was a tiny newborn who could barely hold her head up on her own. Sometimes I just sit and reflect on every memory that I can, because I never want to forget this time in her life. So even though, at times, I hear that “mommy guilt” voice inside saying, we spend too much time at home, we should be doing more activities, I’m not teaching her enough, I need to be doing more… I have to stop and realize it’s ok to slow down and embrace motherhood because before I know it she’ll be all grown up and I’ll be missing these days.

So February is a special month for us because it’s our anniversary month! We celebrated 4 years of marriage at the beginning of the month. Again, very hard to believe it’s been 4 years already. I guess time really does fly when you’re with the one you love!:) We celebrated our anniversary with a trip to Rosemary Beach, Florida. We stayed at The Pearl hotel which is new to the community and a place that I highly recommend! They have impeccable service, gorgeous rooms and a wonderful restaurant. Needless to say we did lots of eating on our trip, along with some shopping and just overall relaxation . It was a much needed getaway. 😉
Even though this month has flown by, I still have been able to enjoy some new things that I’d love to share with you all. So let’s jump into it…shall we!?
I have been loving these nude, Yosi Samra ballet flats all month long! Luke got them for me at the cutest boutique in Alys Beach called the Alys Shoppe. I have always had trouble wearing flats in the past because they normally give me blisters and just overall hurt my feet. These are totally different! They are SO, SO comfortable and not to mention super cute! You can find them here if you are interested in purchasing some for yourself!
I have been loving the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Palette for several months now! It’s the ultimate all-in-one product. You can use it to bronze your entire face, set your foundation, highlight, rosy up those cheeks and lately I’ve even been using it as eyeshadow. It’s great for when you are in a hurry and don’t feel like fussing too much over a complicated makeup look. The powders are finely milled, smooth, very blend-able, and highly pigmented. It’s also great for travel, and I LOVE the packaging. This is a high-end product, but one that I feel is totally worth the money. Find it here !
I’ve been loving this new Wet n Wild 1 Step Wonder Gel nail polish. It acts like a gel nail polish, meaning it has great staying power, but I love it because it’s not a pain to remove. This is great stuff for around $4.00 at the drugstore. I have the colors condensed milk and stay classy and I love them both! I’ll probably eventually get some brighter colors for spring because the two I have are very neutral. I highly recommend this bargain.
My baby girl LOVES these snack bars from Plum Organics. They are soft enough for her to chew good, and substantial enough to fill her up for a while. I love having a healthy snack option for her at home or for when we are on the go! I picked mine up at Target.
Ok so recently I’ve been obsessed with podcasts. It’s something that’s new to me, and I’m actually surprised I’m so into them. I love to listen while I’m running or doing something boring like cleaning the kitchen….errrrggg! I have actually been finding myself wanting to listen to podcasts in the car rather than listening to music on the radio. Who knew listening to people talk could be so entertaining and educational?! So my FAVORITE podcast I’ve found so far is called Happier with Gretchen Rubin. It’s hosted by Gretchen, a writer who studies habits and human nature, and her sister Elizabeth (she’s hilarious) who is a tv writer and producer. They talk about how to form better habits, give tips on being more productive, and how to be happier…hence the name of the show! It’s really fun to listen to so if you find yourself bored at times this might be something you’d enjoy…I know I do! Here is Gretchen’s website if you want to learn more about her and what she does.
Paul wrote, “So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” – Philippians 2:1-4
So there you have it! I hope you try some of these things out and if you do please let me know in the comments below! Have a very blessed day! Bye!
